How to plan for Mumbai-Goa road trip?

A Mumbai- Goa road trip is like a dream come true. And why not? Pleasant weather, beautiful sceneries and wide roads- your entire journey is fun-filled and exciting. Away from pollution and chaos of the city, the drive through the desolation rejuvenates and prepares you for the upcoming thrill in Goa. It takes 12 hours to reach Goa from Mumbai and these 12 hours will surely make a separate memory book. The flora and fauna on the way and the blue sea following you throughout, you sigh in content as you through the journey.

But such a long drive does require preparation. Here’s how to plan for Mumbai-Goa road trip:

1)      Pick the right car: Car determines comfort. When you are driving straight on the highway and that too for long hours, chances are there that your body might ache. Choose a spacious yet comfortable car so that your travel plans become memorable.

2)      Decide your stops beforehand: Roads can be unpredictable. Don’t depend on your luck when you are deciding your stops. Obviously you can’t drive for 12 hours straight (or more if you unfortunately find traffic on the way) and if you have cozy stops on the way, driving will become easy. Book rooms or short accommodations for yourself deciding on how long you can drive. This will make things a lot easier because you will have small little milestones to reach.

3)      Food should always be there: Again, you can’t depend on roads. Thus, you need to have proper stock of food when you take on this journey. Carry lots of fruits, nuts and dry food so that you never have to sleep hungry.

4)      Carry lots of water: A dehydrated journey is frustrating. Even when driving in AC, if there is heat outside, our body automatically gets dehydrated. Carry lots of water when you travel. We’d suggest that you carry a small ice box so that you can keep your water chilled. Slip in a few cans of beer in there as well, if you please! But no drinking and driving!

5)      Carry the map: Outskirts of cities rarely have proper mobile network. Although we do have Google Maps at our disposal but when on a road trip, carrying the hard copy of a map is wise. If you get lost and don’t have mobile signal, you can at least confirm your location in the map and do the next.

Another small tip. Download a playlist so that you have song for every mood while you drive.
So, what are you waiting for? Hope onto your four wheels and leave for this beautiful journey. At Goa, Estrela Do Mar Beach Resort will welcome you with warm greetings and a comfortable sojourn.
